Getting Started

Overview

Muster is a universal deploy framework written in pure bash (3.2+). Zero dependencies, gorgeous TUI, works with any stack. Your scripts, your way — muster just makes them look good and actually work.

What is muster?

Muster is an orchestrator, not a deployment tool. Your project provides hook scripts that do the actual work — muster runs them in order, shows beautiful output, and verifies health. No magic. No opinions. No YAML manifests to learn.

Key features

  • Zero dependencies — pure bash 3.2+, works everywhere
  • Gorgeous TUI — interactive setup, live dashboard, spinners, progress bars
  • Any stack — Kubernetes, Docker Compose, Docker, bare metal, local dev
  • Instant rollback — one command, interactive picker, recovery menus
  • Smart setup — auto-detects your project, K8s live introspection, generates working hooks
  • Health checks — HTTP, TCP, or custom command verification after each deploy
  • Credentials — macOS Keychain / Linux secret-tool integration
  • Fleet deployment — multi-machine deploys via SSH or cloud transport with sequential, parallel, and rolling strategies
  • Skills system — community addons for Slack, Discord, webhooks, and more
  • Security — hook manifest integrity, dangerous command scanning, payload signing
  • MCP integration — let AI assistants deploy for you

Quick start

1

Install muster

bash
curl -fsSL https://getmuster.dev/install.sh | bash
2

Set up your project

bash
cd your-project
muster setup

The interactive wizard detects your stack, services, and generates deploy hooks automatically.

3

Deploy

bash
muster deploy
Tip
Run muster setup --scan for non-interactive setup that auto-detects your stack, services, health probes, and secrets from project files.
